In the online Keyboard course at Zelus Academy, one of the foundational concepts you'll learn is the chord triad. A triad is simply three notes played together simultaneously. To illustrate, place your right-hand thumb on middle C and play the notes C-E-G (fingers 1-3-5). This gives you the C Major triad.
The beauty of chord triads is that you can play a major chord in any key using a simple pattern. Begin by identifying the root note (the key you're playing in), then count 5 semi-tones (or half steps) to the right for the next note, and another 4 semi-tones to the right for the third note. For example, to play a G Major triad, start with G, count 5 semi-tones to B, and then 4 semi-tones to D.
Through Keyboard online learning, you'll gain confidence in identifying and playing triads across all keys. These triads form the basis of most harmonies and are crucial for developing your skills in playing chords and creating music. With practice, you'll be able to use triads effectively in various progressions, enhancing both your performance and understanding of music theory. Continue reading
