Hockey: How to scoop or flick the ball across the field

At Zelus Academy’s online hockey course, learners are taught essential skills such as the stationary scoop, vital for mastering ball control and precision. Begin this technique by positioning yourself correctly: knees bent, upper body leaning forward, and feet set shoulder-width apart for optimal balance. Align the ball with your left foot, preparing for the scoop. Position your hockey stick slightly angled backwards, with the blade open and positioned just behind the ball, ready for the maneuver.

Executing the stationary scoop involves generating power primarily from your shoulder. This action should be complemented by a well-coordinated twist of the hips, integrating upper body strength with core stability to propel the ball effectively. This movement not only aids in lifting the ball but also ensures it is directed precisely.

Our hockey online learning platform provides detailed instructional content on these techniques, helping you refine your skills through practice and repetition. Whether you are starting out or looking to enhance your playing technique, our course is structured to improve your gameplay and deepen your understanding of hockey fundamentals, making each session valuable and impactful.
