In the online Keyboard course at Zelus Academy, it’s important to understand the difference between count and beat for effective Keyboard online learning. Count refers to the numbers you say out loud as you play (e.g., -1-2-3-4-), while a beat indicates how long you hold down a key. There are three key beats to familiarize yourself with: 1-beat, 2-beat, and 4-beat. The length of the beat determines how long each note is sustained during your play.

Middle C serves as the reference point for positioning your fingers and playing scales, so recognizing it quickly is key to playing efficiently.
Mastering counting and beat recognition will significantly improve your rhythm and timing on the keyboard. With consistent practice in the online Keyboard course, you'll gain greater fluency and confidence in playing different pieces while maintaining the right tempo and beat. Continue reading
