Keyboard:How to overcome common challenges as a beginner

In the online Keyboard course at Zelus Academy, effective learning strategies are key to mastering the instrument. One creative method to remember note names is by using "calling cards." These are small sheets of paper with the note names (like C, D, E, etc.) written in capital letters. Place the cards in a bowl, draw one at random, and then play the corresponding key on your keyboard. This fun exercise helps strengthen your ability to quickly identify and play notes.

To address the common issue of "flying fingers" (where your fingers lift too far off the keys while playing), it's important to maintain proper hand positioning. Ensure that your fingers are naturally curved on the keys. For added control during practice, try using your left palm to gently cover and guide your right-hand fingers. This technique promotes stability and precision in your finger movements, making your playing more fluid and accurate.

With these techniques integrated into the Keyboard online learning modules at Zelus Academy, you'll develop both musical memory and technical finesse, essential for becoming a proficient keyboard player. Our course ensures that students not only learn the theory but also adopt practical habits for smooth, confident performance. Continue reading
