Keyboard:Explore the seventh note in major scales

In the online Keyboard course at Zelus Academy, students explore a variety of musical concepts, including the structure of scales and chords. For instance, in the C Major scale (C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C), the seventh note is B, which forms a B Diminished chord when combined with its respective notes (B, D, F). This chord has a melancholic tone, often used to evoke a somber or tense mood in music.

However, a more commonly used variation of the seventh chord is the Major/Minor 7th. When you take a C Major chord (C, E, G) and add the seventh note of the scale (B), you get the C Major 7 chord (C, E, G, B). This chord has a rich, jazzy feel and is widely used in various genres of music.

In the Keyboard online learning modules at Zelus Academy, students dive into the theory and practice behind these chords, learning how to apply them in different musical contexts. Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate player, this course helps you build a solid foundation in chords, scales, and advanced techniques, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. Continue reading
