Self defence: Defending against a front choke

Strangulation against a wall is a common move in violent attacks, and having the right response is critical. Begin by establishing a stable stance. Then, using an inside whirl of your elbow, swiftly push into the attacker’s arms to break the hold. From here, land a strong knee or kick directly to the attacker’s groin to destabilize him, followed by a forceful open palm strike to the bridge of his nose. This sequence should be enough to disrupt the attacker’s focus and immobilize him momentarily, giving you the critical window to escape and call for help.
