Karate:All about the back fist and hammer fist

In the Online Karate course at Zelus Academy, students learn how to effectively use both the back fist and hammer fist techniques for self-defense and combat scenarios. These strikes are versatile and powerful, playing a crucial role in finishing moves or creating openings for escape during an attack.

The back fist is executed by striking the opponent with the back of your fist and knuckles. It is a quick and precise strike, often aimed at vulnerable areas like the bridge of the nose. The back fist is particularly effective in disorienting an attacker, allowing you to gain the upper hand or create space to retreat. This technique can be employed as a follow-up or finishing move in a variety of Karate scenarios.

The hammer fist, on the other hand, is a more forceful strike, delivered by swinging the clenched fist downwards or sideways towards the target. This technique generates significant power and can be used to attack vital points such as the collarbone, temple, or even as a downward strike to disable the opponent.

Through Karate online learning, students at Zelus Academy practice these techniques in structured drills, learning their applications in Kihon (basics), Kata (forms), and Kumite (sparring). These fundamental strikes are essential for both offensive and defensive purposes in Karate. Continue reading
