Karate:Three different types of turning kicks

In the Online Karate course offered by Zelus Academy, the turning kick is a vital technique that requires significant flexibility and balance. This kick is executed by striking the opponent's chest, face, or head, using the heel or top of the foot, while the body is supported on the non-kicking leg. Mastering this movement is essential for both offense and defense in Karate.

In the Karate online learning curriculum, students are trained in several variations of the turning kick:

  1. Turning kick with the back leg (forward stance): This is a powerful, full-force strike where the back leg is used to deliver a roundhouse kick, targeting the opponent's upper body. The forward stance helps to maintain balance while maximizing the impact of the kick.

  2. Turning kick with the leading leg (forward stance): A quicker version of the kick that allows for fast attacks without compromising stance or balance. This variation is useful for striking with speed and precision.

  3. Scissor-move turning kick (back stance): An advanced version, where the back leg delivers the kick in a scissor-like motion. The back stance provides a defensive angle, while the kick surprises the opponent with a swift, controlled strike.

Each of these techniques is crucial for developing both agility and power, key elements taught in Zelus Academy's online Karate course to enhance students' overall Karate skills and real-world application.Continue reading
